Scope and Contents
Series I: Subject Files, 1968-1990 contains documents, brochures, pamphlets, reports, meeting minutes, news clippings, and photographs documenting the work of the Office for University Relations.
Series II: Correspondence Files, 1968-1989 contains letters and memoranda related to the activities of the Office for University Relations.
Series III: UCF Foundation Files, 1978-1989 contains correspondence, documents, brochures, policies, and news releases concerning the UCF Foundation.
Series IV: President's Box Files, 1986-1992 contains correspondence, invitations, guest lists, tickets, brochures, and programs relating to guests in the President's Box at home football games.

Biographical or Historical Information
University Relations is the department of the university that interacts with elected officials, the media, chambers of commerce, businesses, social organizations, government agencies, and local and national leaders to further the goals of the university. A Director of Public Relations was first appointed in 1966. As the university developed so did its need for liaisons with others. In 1974, the Office of Community Relations filled this need, but nine years later it had become the Office of University Relations. During its lifetime the office has overseen a variety of activities; in 2008 the divisions within University Relations include Economic Development, Governmental Relations, News and Information, University Marketing, and Alumni Relations. D. Robert McGinnis, Vice President from 1986-1992, was also Executive director of the UCF Foundation, and his files form the basis for much of the collection.

Office of University Relations transferred these materials to the University of Central Florida Libraries, Special Collections and University Archives in 1993.

Collection Identifier: CFU1993_01
Collection processed by and finding aid prepared by Anna Bjornsson in 2008. Materials were placed in archival folders and put into cartons in alphabetical order within series. The finding aid was placed into Archon, with adjustments made for Archon and resulting in edition 2, by Mary Rubin in 2015.
